Ceuta border-crossing: Solidarity demos in Paris

transmitter | 09.10.2005 21:22 | Migration | World

On the night of the 28th about 500 subsaharian inmigrants tried to cross en masse the border between Marocco and Ceuta. 5 of them were shot by the police. See  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/09/324735.html.
Protests took place at several spanish and moroccan embassies across Europe. Here is a report from Paris:

Here is a call for a protest in Paris at the Spanish Embassy. It happened last weekend 30/9.

There was also a sans papiers demo in Paris yesterday (8/10) which included the situation there but was protesting against the wave of expulsions and the now frequent evictions from hotels and flats considered uninhabitable as a consequence of the 4 fires in Paris buildings and hotels which have killed many Sans papiers men women and children. The fires have provided the government here with the pretext to close a lot of housing on the grounds that they constitute a fire. Instead of rehousing migrants, they are evicted and if their papers are not in order, they are expelled.
That demo also protested against the situation in Morocco and Europes politics on migration.

COMMUNIQUE
29-09-2005

EUROPE FORTERESSE - EUROPE MEURTRIERE

meurtres.

NOUS APPELONS A UN RASSEMBLEMENT
A L’AMBASSADE D’ESPAGNE :
VENDREDI 30 SEPTEMBRE A 18 H 00
22, AVENUE MARCEAU - PARIS 8EME
METRO : ALMA MARCEAU
